2. Yuksom

          

              This beautiful place is situated in the western part of Sikkim. It is important to note that Yuksom, was once capital of Sikkim. This village of Sikkim is the home of one of the oldest monastery in Sikkim. This pictorial hamlet is among the most peaceful and serene place of state.

3. Tsomgo Lake

Tsomgo lake is one of the must visit place of Sikkim. During winters lake is totally frozen surrounded by hills with black rocks- look like black and white scenery, doesn’t it! This beauty place is located just 38 km away from the capital city, Gangtok.

Another fact to notice is that, Tsomgo lake is located at an altitude of 12,400ft which makes it one of the highest lake of India.

Namchi means ‘top of the sky’ in Tibetan language. Well, when I used to live in Sikkim; Namchi used to be one of my favourite holiday destination. I used to love its tea garden and  natural beauty of this southern part of state. This gorgeous city of Sikkim is located 90 km from Gangtok in southward direction.

Namchi is more of a pilgrimage centre of Buddhists than just a tourist spot.

 Whenever You visit Namchi, I am sure you will have only one word in your mouth- “MAGNIFICIENT”.

6. Lachung

Lachung is one of the most visited tourist place of Sikkim after Gangtok. Every word falls short to describe the beauty of Lachung. Just remember , you will end up falling in love with the place. It is located at an enormous height of 8,610ft.

It is about 5 hours away from Gangtok. Lachung is the place of beautiful flowers, valleys, snow chapped mountains.

7. Zuluk

Zuluk, I believe is one of the most underrated place of Sikkim. This place is located at the touching height of 10,000ft. Located on the ancient ‘Silk Route’, this quaint Sikkimese village takes the pride of being a vintage point to enjoy panoramic views of the Mt Kanchenjunga. In addition to the magical beauty of this hamlet, it is also popular among the adventure lovers as the ride to Zuluk takes them through 32 hair-pin bends.

8. Yumthang Valley

A visit to Yumthang Valleys it truly a colourful affair! Located at an elevation of 3,500m, this scenic valley is the home to several exotic, rare and wild flowers. It is often said, one who visits this quintessential valley, often gets pleasantly affected by its treacherous colours and alluring beauty!

9. Gurudongmar Lake

Considered as a sacred lake, the legends say that though this lake remains frozen during the winters, one of its portion never freezes. No matter, how extreme is the weather, this certain portion blessed by Guru Padmasambhava never freezes and thus its water is considered holy by the devotees.
